A specially developed isolator mechanism eliminates amplitude decline that is typical of a stopped flyback hand. Because this stunning timepiece is hand-wound, a glance through the caseback reveals the entire movement, without the traditional rotor (found in automatic movements) getting in the way. Based on the Datograph caliber, the Double Split adds a second column wheel, additional levers for the second flyback and the isolator mechanism. A newly developed balance spring, manufactured entirely in Lange's Glashutte manufactory, is installed in the movement. Perfect beveling and polishing round out this already sublime timepiece.

Brand: A Lange & Sohne
Code: 702-025, 702 025, 702025
Price: $179.00
The manually wound L903.0 calibre is extraordinary. It comprises 465 parts - 1097 parts with the chain. It has 41 rubies, and is precision-adjusted to 5 positions. Six gold chatons are screwed to the untreated German silver plates and bridges. The gorgeous sapphire-crystal caseback showcases the tourbillon, the chronograph (rattrapante) mechanism, and fuse-and-chain transmission.Axial play is limited by two diamond endstones. The screw balance is shock-proofed on both sides. The hairspring terminal curve is bent according to a precise mathematical algorithm assuring isochronous oscillation. The chronograph rattrapante mechanism, as with other Langes, is controlled by two column wheels.Lange has considered every last detail. All edges have been chamfered and polished. Even hidden surfaces are circular-grained to perfection, or meticulously decorated with beautiful patterns (taking up to five days and involving 14 different processes). The finishing processes of the tourbillon bridge alone, take two days to complete.A fully wound mainspring of a traditional mechanical watch delivers more torque than when it is unwound resulting in rate inaccuracies. The magnificent fuse-and-chain transmission of the Tourbograph Pour le Merite is Lange's elegant solution to eliminate this phenomenon. It is, however, so intricate to produce, that only Lange's master watchmakers have the required expertise to integrate it with the wristwatch mechanism. It is driven by the spring barrel around which it winds. The 633-part chain transmits its pulling power to the going train as it unwinds from the stepped cone-like fuse. When the mainspring is fully wound and exerting full force, the chain pulls at the shorter lever. When the tension of the mainspring is nearly depleted, the chain pulls at the longer lever. The result: uniform power transmission, regardless of how the mainspring is wound. But sometimes the mainspring is being wound, and the cone rotates backwards. What then? Lange's master engineers have thought of that too. To prevent the watch from stopping while being wound, a tiny planetary gear train has been integrated inside the fusee assuring uninterrupted delivery of power. The master watchmakers of Lange have also decided to offset the disruptive gravitation forces on the balace wheel. To that end, they have integrated a tourbillon, a patented Breguet development that was developed in the early 19th century. It comprises the balance, the pallet lever and the escape wheel all housed in a rotating cage. The cage rotates once a minute on its own axis. The Tourbograph's superlative tourbillon - comprising 84 parts - is visible through an aperture at 6 o'clock. It has a mass of a mere 0.5 grams. The Tourbograph Pour Le Merite is the sequel to the original Lange Tourbograph and is the most complex Lange wristwatch made to date. It commemorates the 15th anniversary of the reopening of the Lange manufactory. Each sublime watch takes a staggering 30-days to assemble and only one of these timepieces will leave the manufactory per month until 101 watches have been made - 51 pieces in platinum and 50 in gold. This remarkable watch is an aficionado's fantasy and will surely be the highlight of any collection. The 2006 Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix recognized the incredible Pour le Merite Tourbograph by awarding it and the firm A. Lange & Shne the Special Jury Prize. The TOURBOGRAPH 'Pour le Mrite' was chosen by readers of the German Sunday newspaper Welt am Sonntag and specialist watch magazine Armbanduhren as 'Watch of the Year 2007'All 50 Platinum pieces are spoken for by original owners at the Lange factory. This brand new piece has no official US Retail. Prices are based on the Euro at $1.46 = 1 EURO. A Lange & Sohne was first established in 1845 by Adolph Lange in Glasshutte. The plates, bridges, whiplash spring and classic column wheel are chamfered and polished. The balance cock is hand-engraved. The large two-digit date apperture is at 12. The day of the week subdial is at 8, with the small day/night indicator dial just above it. The moon-phase display is at 6 o'clock. The month subdial is at 4 o'clock, with the small leap-year dial just below it.This remarkable timepiece is the first to incorporate a perpetual calendar with a chronograph. The calendar is accurate until the year 2100, when, because the year 2100 is not a leap year (it is a century year that is not divizable by 400), the calendar will require a manual advance of 1 day. The moon-phase is itself an incredibly precise movement, accurate for 122 years, after which, it too will require a one day adjustment. An ingenious interlock device prevents accidental date resetting on the Datograph Perpetual. After pulling out the crown and disengaging the interlock, the perpetual calendar can be purposefully reset. The calendar mechanism alone accounts for 223 parts.A total of 556 individually assembled and adjusted parts constitute this superb watch. The watch is equipped with a stopwork (preventing overwinding and uncoiling) that ensures accurate torque delivery. The balance is by glucydur with eccentric poising weights, and a Lange balance spring. The watch is packaged in a gorgeous Black embossed box (with Lange Sohne bezel design). Included in the inner box is the Lange booklet wallet in a smooth Navy Blue finish. The Datograph Perpetual instruction manual in 9 languages is secured on the left. The 'History of your watch' booklet is secured on the right - it contains the guarantee seal (with Model, Case and Movement numbers), generational ownership record, service logs and official agents leaflet. The outer box is the functional and simple Lange gray textured-finish box, that keeps the inner box secure from the elements. A. Lange & Sohne have done it again in magnificent style. This truly awe-inspiring example of watchmaking acumen is only available in Platinum in extremely limited quantities.ORIGINAL A LANGE UND SOHNE INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY A Lange & Sohne was first established in 1845 by Adolph Lange in Glasshutte.

Brand: A Lange & Sohne
Code: 130-025, 130 025
Price: $189.00
The LANGE 31 is the world's first mechanical wristwatch with a power reserve of 31 days and a constant-force escapement that powers the going train with constant torque delivery. The tremendous amount of energy needed to keep the watch running so long is transferred to the movement with a winding key and stored in a twin mainspring barrel. The Lange 31 is yet another example of A. Lange & Shne's ability to redefine benchmarks in precision watchmaking. For an entire month, the mechanism assures the highest level of rate stability and rate accuracy. Thanks to its unmatched autonomy, the LANGE 31 offers a useful benefit you may forget to wind it once in a while. Because even if you take the watch off, it keeps telling the right time for as long as 31 days. To emphasize this special functionality, the solid-silver dial bears the inscription Monats-Werk. Additionally, the power-reserve indicator was accorded ample space on the right-hand side of the solid-silver dial. The patented outsize date on the left-hand side harmoniously balances the face.A glance at the case back reveals another construction that is very rare in precision watchmaking the key-winding mechanism. It was explicitly designed for and matched to this watch. It allows a considerably larger winding transmission ratio than would be possible with a crown. So fewer revolutions are needed, and the energy can be built up faster and more conveniently. The key is inserted through an aperture in the sapphire-crystal caseback. Three seals between the winding mechanism and the case protect the watch against ingress of water up to a pressure of 3 bar. To prevent inadvertent over-tightening of the mainsprings, the key features an integrated torque limiter. An attempt to turn the key further - once the mainspring is fully wound - disengages the triangular toothing of two wheels inside the key and interrupts the flow of power. The L034.1 manufacture movement in the LANGE 31 is a true power pack. In a space with a diameter of 37.3 millimetres and a height of 9.6 millimetres, it stores the energy needed to keep running non-stop for 31 days. Two crucial questions had to be answered by Lange's calibre engineers: how can so much energy be stored in a movement? And, just as important: how can this energy be delivered in a controlled manner? The energy storage function is handled by the large twin mainspring barrel - two stacked spring barrels, in fact, with an inside diameter of 25 mm. They contain the two mainsprings, each of which is 1,85 meters long five to ten times as long as the springs of conventional mechanical wristwatches. When fully wound, their combined energy is equivalent to more than 3 joules. The torque delivered by the mainspring barrel has its maximum when the spring is fully wound and then declines perceptibly as the spring relaxes. This changes the rate parameters of the movement, especially in watches with large power reserve values. To eliminate this unwanted effect in the LANGE 31, the manufactory integrated a constant-force escapement. The main element of this mechanism is a pretensioned spiral spring that is quickly re-tightened on the fly at intervals of ten seconds. During the ten seconds that follow, the energy stored in the spring is delivered to the going train in a controlled manner. The torque output is virtually constant and powers the watch uniformly throughout 31 days.Apart from its innovative technology, this movement stands out by virtue of its aesthetic appearance. It showcases everything that makes Lange watchmaking artistry so desirable: attractive traditional elements such as the screw balance, the whiplash precision index adjuster on the hand-engraved balance cock, and three screwed gold chatons. Not to mention the superb finish of all parts that is so typical for Lange. A Lange & Sohne was first established in 1845 by Adolph Lange in Glasshutte. The firm established itself as makers of distinctive and fine timepieces - its pocket watches were prized by European gentry. Following the Second World War, the factory was seized by what was then East Germany. Walter Lange, the company's heir fled.
